I work a job that requires a lot of talking on the phone and I can not for the life of me figure some people out! For example; I had this woman call in looking to schedule a pick up (I work in a traffic office and NO – I am not a dispatcher!) This was our conversation:

Me: Ok, name of the company your freight is going to?

Her: It’s picking up from…

Me: …ok… and what’s the name of the company your freight’s going to?

Her: Going to?

Me: Yea, where’s it going?

Her: It’s going to California.

Me: What’s the name of the company?

Her: My company? It’s…

Me: No, what’s the name of the company your freight’s going to?

Her: OH! (haha) It’s going to …

Me: (yea – really not that funny…) ok thanks and what was your company’s name?

Her: My company is light L-I-G-H-T plastic P-L-A-S-T-I-C Corp C-O-R-P

Me: ok – Street address for pick up?

Her: 186 Grand G-R-A-N-D Ave A-V-E

Me: (Does she really have to spell everything? I mean I’m not exactly spelling bee material but I think I can handle “Grand Ave” …this is taking forever…) Ok and can I get your name?

Her: Sure, it’s Mary M-A-R-Y Smith S-M-I-T-H

Me: (really??) and what city are you located in?

Her: Punxsutawney …………

Me: (I can’t believe this is happening!) Can you spell that for me please?

Is that fun for people?!?!?!?!?! Is this a joke?
